Is the hiking on this trip actually demanding or more leisurely?

Advice

The G Adventures listing says "moderate" physical grade for the Iceland Waterfalls and Hot Springs trip but I've found that can mean very different things depending on the trip.

I'm reasonably fit but not a hardcore hiker, I do weekend walks, nothing technical. Are we talking proper mountain terrain with altitude gain or more like scenic strolls between waterfalls?

Also curious if anyone has done this in late September, is the weather still manageable or does it start getting genuinely grim?

Did this trip in July. The hiking is moderate in the real sense of the word, not the "moderate means hard" sense. The Reykjadalur hot spring hike is about 3km each way with some incline but nothing technical. If you do weekend walks you will be totally fine.

Late September: the weather gets unpredictable but it is manageable. Main thing is layers, waterproof jacket, and decent boots. The light starts dropping noticeably by then which is actually quite beautiful for photography.
